Jaan studied psychology in Berlin. He did his PhD in the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research. He obtained the Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship to do a post-doc with Matthew Larkum in Berlin. Currently he is an associate professor at the Institute of Computer Science. Jaan has published two popular scientific books and received several awards for science communication
